Sevdah of lost Identity – one day Workshop

This, to me very dear, one-day workshop, took place on the Saturday before Easter in Ljubljana at the Muzej Novejše zgodovine. The participants were invited to work with one traditional element found in the visual heritage of ex-Yugoslavia. We channeled our creativity through the beauty of geometrical forms and symmetry found in traditional motifs through which we addressed our national/ethnical/cultural identity and shared history.

The workshop was designed to accompany the current exhibition on display which shows a vast oral and personal history of different ex-Yugoslavian identities in exile in Slovenia. It addresses everything from every day life to sport and education to home cooking recipes.
